Dell Optiplex GX270 Not Booting Up
There are two common causes for the Optiplex GX270 to not boot up. The problems are well documented and may or may not be covered by Dell’s warranty program.
The first, and probably the most common reason a GX270 will not start or boot up is a power supply failure. The failure is indicated by a flashing amber light on the on/off button. Fix: Replace the power supply. The power supply is not covered under an warranty beyond the initial warranty or extended warranty.
Another common cause of the Optiplex GX270 not booting is bad capacitors on the motherboard. The capacitors have a manufacturing defect and the problem is easy to detect.
Open the case and inspect the capacitors for leakage and discoloration. This defect is covered by Dell and they will replace the motherboard. Just call Dell’s warranty department.

Shame on Dell! You get the winner’s prize. After several hours of troublshooting this problem it was indeed BAD CAPACITORS. Cheap oem board parts from Dell! We’ve had two of these go out in the last 2 months!
