What is Cache?
Every time you surf a web site, your computer saves files from that site in your computer. These files help your surf the website faster by saving images and other files. Whenever you return to the website, the browser compares the files in the cache with the content on the website, if there have been no changes to the website since your last visit, the browser loads the files from the cache instead of downloading them.
The Problem with Cache
The files are stored in a place called the cache. The problem with storing these files is that your cache can become quite large, taking space on your hard drive, fragmenting the drive and slowing down your computer.
Clean Out the Cache
To keep everything running smooth, it just takes a few minutes of house cleaning. Every so often you can manually clean your cache out. To clean out your cache, just follow these steps.
1. Go to Tools located on the Navigation Bar.
2. Select Clear Private Data…Ctrl+Shift+Del.
3. The Clear Private Data window opens. By default, every option but Cookies is selected.
4. For this tip, we are just clearing the cache so uncheck all option except Cache.
5. Click Clear private Data Now.
6. That’s it. Your browser’s cache is now clear.
