Stop Programs from Starting Automatically–Advanced Windows Live Messenger ZIP File with Trojan–bot
Dec 16

We have had several computers that were recently reloaded that had the Symantec Antivirus LiveUpdate grayed out or locked out. Although we have not figured out why this happened, we did figure out a way to fix the problem.

LiveUpdate Locked-Can’t Update Symantec Antivirus

Click Start then Run. Type regedit and then find this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\PatternManager.

Right click on LockUpdatePattern and select Modify.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\PatternManager

Change value from a 1 to a 0.

Close the Registry Editor and open Symantec Antivirus. The LiveUpdate should be unlocked now. You may need to reboot your system in order to run LiveUpdate.
