Use the Pin to Start menu Option in XP
There are several programs that I use every day and I don’t have time to go digging through the All Programs menu to start them. That’s why I use an option in XP called “Pin to Start menu” to keep my most-used programs at hand.
There are two ways to pin a program icon to the Start menu.
The first is to go through the Start menu to All Programs and find the program you want to pin. Once you find the program, right click on the program’s icon and select “Pin to Start menu” . Your program is now pinned to the Start menu.
The second way to pin a program is to simply drag the program icon to the Start menu.
That’s it! Your most-used programs will now stay on the start menu and will not be replaced.

I always use the start menu. It also saves you from having to close down a browser window to access stuff on a desktop.

Well i must admit when i first bought my new computer from Dell with Windows XP, it took me ages to figure out how to pin things to the start menu! I have now gone onto a mac now though. So really its much easier than windows, no virus threats and just drag and drop most of the time!
